We're telling you about their Winery
Since the 1970s, Château Sainte-Anne has worked its vines and grapes without artifice. It is one of Bandol's pioneers in what we now call Natural Wines. Château Sainte-Anne has been family-owned for 5 generations, and was built in the 16th century by the Congregation of the Pères de l'Oratoire, who already cultivated vines and olive trees. They built vaulted stone cellars that still exist today, but have since been restructured to comply with Bandol A.O.C. requirements. A modern cellar has been added to the old one, combining modern methods of winemaking and vineyard management with traditional practices. Now run by Françoise Dutheil de la Rochère and her son Jean-Baptiste, château is located in the Bandol appellation, and this vineyard has always made the most of its assets: geological richness (the most arid limestones with veins of pure white sand that allow deep soil drainage). | Le terroir bénéficie d’un micro climat avec des nuits très fraîches dès le début septembre qui permettent aux mourvèdre de donner une parfaite maturité et ce jusqu’à la mi-octobre. Enfin, on doit aussi compter sur l'influence de l’air marin (la Méditerranée est à 2 km à vol d’oiseau). Tous ces paramètres constituent une véritable niche écologique encore préservée où se concentre l’expression de son terroir. À la cave, les raisins vinifiés en Rouge, Rosé et Blanc expriment leur vraie nature avec attention et respect. |
