From a family that has been elaborating wine for four generations, Thierry Valette took a different way before becoming the owner of Clos Puy Arnaud. He lived and thrilled in the modern dance and jazz world. Art and trend rather than land and establishment.… Years went by. The wish to make wine and establish on a terroir dear to his heart came back to him. He forged that desire spending time at François Mitjaville renowned “Château le Tertre Roteboeuf”. There, he discovered biodynamics and developed his knowledge. His settling down at Clos Puy Arnaud in Castillon became official in 2000. Thierry Valette is convinced he should find a synthesis between tradition and the “grand crus” elegance with instant approach of wine based on fruit and freshness.
He knows that in order to produce good wine, the winegrower should get each plot to express itself taking into account its uniqueness. The only one truth is : terroir. The soils with main limestone structure on Bèlvès village bring a lot of delicacy and minerality to the grapes. The ones in St Genès-de-Castillon village are partly tuff and bring more power and tannins. The majority of the plots get the sunrise rays, providing the vine a positive quality of light. A quality found in the bottles. In case you wouldn’t know them… Go ahead ! You won’t be disappointed. http://clospuyarnaud.com/
