Jean Foillard is the son of a winegrower and grandson of a winegrower and cooper. In the early 1980’s his dad asked him to take over the family business. As early as 1985 he started cooperating with Marcel Lapierre, his neighbour. They both followed in the steps of Jules Chauvet to make wines that best expressed their terroirs. Jean Foillard got together with Guy Breton, Yvon Métras, the Valette brothers, Jean-Paul Thévenet etc.. a bunch of people swimming against the tide, free thinkers and with an independent mind.
Jean is both a dedicated winegrower and a perfectionist. As the years go by Jean’s work is getting more and more refined and he goes along experimental lines to find this little bit extra that makes a difference. He managed to get this little plus thanks to a schistous parcel located in iconic Côte de Py. The domain produces 5 Gamay cuvees and a primeur wine , all of them are elegant, balanced and stirring. A must-taste, really !
