Thibault Ducroux is the son of a winegrower and his passion has grown from there. He learnt the basics at his father’s side. But he didn’t stop there, and soon wanted to understand more about the soil, the wine, nature. Direction BTS (HND) in vite-oeno in St-Jean d’Ardières (69). At the same time, he discovered the works of Jules Chauvet (the father of ‘”natural” oenology), with which he connected and, in the end, convinced him that another way was possible. His pilgrim’s rod in hand, he went to meet Jean-Claude Lapalu, Michel Guignier, Valentin Morel (Jura) and Isabelle and Bruno Perraud (Vauxrenard). As soon as he had finished his BTS, Thibault Ducroux went to work for Julien Sunier where he learnt to work the soil and the vine, organically, and how to make “natural” wine.
At the same time, Thibault bought 1,25ha in the Beaujolais appellation, which he cultivates, of course, organically (vines in conversion). His first wine, “En roue Libre”, saw the light of day with the 2019 vintage. From 2020, a further leased 5ha are worked on the appellations of Morgon and Fleurie.
Thibault Ducroux seems to have his head screwed on and we enjoyed our meeting of discussion and debate. We are pleased to be able to contribute to the launch of young winemakers of this calibre !
