Jean-Paul Thévenet an important player in natural wines ! For over three decades he has been working the vine following biodynamic guideline. As soon as 1985, he was one of the only one with Marcel Lapierre, to offer healthy wine. Happily, winegrowers in Beaujolais are increasingly following Jean Paul’s influence. There was a time when his wines did not pass the appellation on the pretext they were not representative of the Morgon. Too much ! After passing a few vines of the Régnié terroir on to his son Charly in 2007, Jean-Paul Thévenet today owns a little less than 5 hectares.
Located at Villié-Morgon, near the hamlet named “Le Clachet”, on the border of the Domaine Lapierre’s vines… not a coincidence. Wine making process is done from natural yeasts and without sulphur input. Maceration lasts about 15 days, sometimes more depending on the years. As for the wines, hard not to like them ! Crunchy, fresh, with deep black fruit aromas, spice touches and great keeping potential. We just love it.
