The name “Côte de Tire Pé”’ comes from a daily agrarian scene well known by natives, according to which, beasts of burden would relieve themselves after strong efforts climbing to the estate, by dropping one: in french « tirer le pet ». Since the end of 1997, Hélène and David Barrault have been breathing new life into outstanding plots nestled on clay-limestone headlands south of Entre Deux Mers, 60 km from Bordeaux. In an organic cultivation mode since 2008, with ECOCERT certification since the 2014 vintage (Tire Pé, Tir'osé, La Côte and Malbecs), grape planting of these old vines is mainly cabernet franc, merlot and malbec.
Hélène and David’s pleasure lays in the respect, the attention and the understanding they give this terroir so to get its best fruit; balance, freshness and typicity. Outstanding wines with texture and depth rarely found in that area, best known for intense productivity and relative rusticity. The last vintages perfectly illustrate the progress carried out by this domaine. Hats off to them!
