Our opinion on this winery

t’s Athénaïs, the tall blond and friendly daughter- who initiated a dramatic turn in the domain’s approach to winemaking in 2004. Before that, the Béru family-in the wine sector since the 17th century-had only been perpetuating traditions faithfully. The phylloxera epidemic wreaked havoc on the crops and it’s in 1987 that the Earl of Béru, Athénaïs’dad, took the decision to regain control of the vineyard and do things his own way. He started replanting in the first place. With such exceptional terroirs right before her eyes, the energetic and sensitive woman found herself in a winegrower’s shoes when her father passed away. --- Her watchword was to carry on what the Earl of Béru had started: organic and biodynamic viticulture.

[span size="6"]IIt was obvious to her that the only thing she had to do was to carry on with the organic and biodynamic approach. Light horse-ploughing, no herbicides nor fertilizers, plant decoctions in order to revive the varied flora and fauna by giving the vines the natural ability to defend themselves. Today the use of sulphur is under control and all these efforts were worth it: clean and clear cuvées, pure fruit, finesse and elegance. The heirs of Earl Béru met the challenge and now produce racy Chablis and Chablis 1er Cru perfectly in keeping with the 21st century. Congratulations Miss !
