Internationally renowned for the vinification of effervescent whites, Champagne is the most northern vineyard of the country. Four regions mark out this appellation : the Reims Mountain, the Marne Valley, Côte des Blancs and Côte des Bar. The hilly landscape and the Limestone underground (chalk) express the typicity of these Chardonnay wines, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier mostly. A few red and rosé wines are vinified, however the white wine production represents the majority.
These will then go through double fermentation to get the famous effervescence. According to their location some of them might be selected as “Crus” and “Grands Crus”. Ultimate party wines, they will offer fruity, round, soft and mineral expression depending on added sugar rate.
