The domaine « Campi di Fonterenza » is located near the village of Sant’Angelo in Colle, South of Montalcino. It is in an old farm renovated many times through the centuries and ancestrally known for the quality of its water (Fonte) that Margherita and Francesca Padovani, the «Twin Sisters of Brunello» conducted their life project, first in the culture of olive trees and later into wine growing. The first contact of the two Milanese sisters with their future terroir took place in 1976 when still little girls they spent some holidays with their parents in the Sant’Angelo farm in Colle which will later become their working and living place. At the time, country life in the region was still very archaic, the twin sisters grew fond of the region and its inhabitants.
When becoming adults and while studying languages, their lack of enthusiasm for city life and their true attachment for that country life they knew when they were younger led them to drop their studies and their life in Milan to return to the Montalcino farm. The twin sisters run their 4ha vineyard following organic principle. Richness of vine varieties is there, Sangiovese expresses all its complexity in various ways : the fruit of the Pettirosso, the power of tne Rosso di Montalcino and the delicate earnestness of the Brunello. A very old vine of Trebbiano and Malvasia giving a maceration white : Biancospino. No doubt a reference in Italian natural wine.
