The Dolomites are a mountain chain north east of Italy . That is where Elisabetta Foradori at a young age decided to take over the family vineyard after viticulture-oenology studies in the next door village. At the age of 19, she succeeded her father with all freedom to undertake and a strong wish to achieve something with no assurance of it being worthwhile. In 1984, at the time Elisabetta launched that great venture, the done thing was to plant international vine varieties such as merlot and cabernet sauvignon.
She wondered whether to follow the trend or stick to the local vine varieties such as Teroldego, Nosiola and Manzoni Bianco ? The answer was of course not to follow the trend but to put forward these wonderful vine varieties. Today the 26 ha are cultivated on a biodynamic principle and probably produce some of the finest wines of Italy. A word suits Foradori : class ! What to say about months vinification in amphora and long maturation ? Grandiose !
