For 10 years- time’s flying, isn’t it? -Yannick Pelletier has been defending “natural wines”. To do so, he has adopted the follow-your-instincts-approach even if this means seeing his wines downgraded into the Table Wine League. This big guy with a firm handshake and an infectious smile has great respect for his parcels of vines which are scattered all around the village of Saint-Nazaire de Ladarez near Béziers. The soils are a mix of schist, limestone and pebbles. They are hoed by hand, carefully tilled and organically-enriched which means his wines can proudly carry the Ecocert logo. After being professionally involved in the marketing sector for a few years, Yannick was trained at some stage by local star Didier Barral. --- This influenced his choices and made him follow his instincts in particular when he took the decision to become a winegrower in 2004. As a perfectionist he logically set himself the target of keeping imputs to the bare minimum. He also adopted a gravity-flow approach and light filtration techniques. The vines -aged from 15 to 70 years old -seem to express their gratitude to him for this good treatment. What fresh and frank juices in such hot Mediterranean conditions ! What else to say ? well, the wines are racy, rich, deep and complex.
