Our opinion on this winery

Passed through the “conventional” stage and their diploma in the pocket, Christophe and Geraldine Pialoux got involved in biodynamic farming after a determining meeting with Dominique Derain, in Pommard For 2 years, the Pialoux looked for a domain to take over. In 2007, the Domaine du Picatier (Saint Haôn le Vieux, in the Loire region) seduced them. It was surrounded by vineyards, different grape varieties. And at the same place, they also set up a self-catering cottage which opened its doors in 2010. The Domaine du Picatier peaks at an altitude of 400m on the west side of the Loire Valley sheltered from the wind by the summit of Mount Madeleine. At the beginning 7ha (5ha of Gamay, 1ha of Chardonnay and 1ha of Pinot Noir). In 2009, they planted another 1.2 hectare of white grapes (0.6ha of Viognier, 0.3ha of Roussanne and 0.3ha of Aligoté).

The work is done with great respect for the soils and the vineyard is worked along the principles of biodynamic culture: different preparations to reinforce the natural resistance of the vines: plowing and manual harvest. Organic certification since 2012 ! The winemaking is the natural extension of the work done in the vineyard with minimum intervention to let the terroir express itself. Only wild yeasts are authorized. Minimal doses of sulphur are used and this only for the bottling (less than 30mg/l). After the fermentation, the wines remain on their lees until the bottling.
