Trained as a sommelier, Olivier Lemasson first worked for a few great restaurants, but having to shave every morning soon bored him. He turned to Eric Macé, one of the first wine merchant stamped with natural wines in Rennes, who passed on to him the taste for good things. Totally fanatic of these wines, Olivier joined Marcel Lapierre in Beaujolais in search of something more, he worked there during 4 harvests then spent a whole year between the vines and the winery. He then briefly returned to his wine shop experience in Paris and threw himself into the wine business venture alongside with Hervé Villemade in 2002. The company « Les Vins Contés » was born. In order to make his own living, he worked part of his time at his friend’s Villemade domaine ; the rest of the time being spent into setting up the business.
In 2006, they each went their own way, Olivier carried on the venture alone and also took over 2 hectares in the Touraine appellation. Right from the beginning he bought grapes from wine growers concerned by soils, all organic or in a converting process, as a sine qua non condition to their vinification method. With over 10 ha to his credit spread over Monthou-sur-Bièvre and the Cher Valley, Olivier Lemasson is looking for good drinkability of his wines before all, no extraction, to favour fruit expression mainly by carbonic maceration process from 15 to 30 days.
