Our opinion on this winery

Château Sainte-Anne has been a family owned property for 5 generations and was built in the XVI century by the congregation of the Fathers of the Oratoire who already cultivated vines and olive trees at the time. They built arched stone cellars remaining today but restructured in order to be in compliance with A.O.C. Bandol requirements. A modern cellar has also been added, standing against the old one so to join modern methods to ancestral customs both in the winemaking process and in the running of the vineyard. Today run by Françoise Dutheil de la Rochère and her son Jean-Baptiste, the château is located on the Bandol appellation, and the vineyard has always highlighted its assets : geologic richness - most arid limestone with pure white sand veins allowing deep ground drainage.

[span size="6"]The terroir benefits from a micro climate with very cool nights right from the beginning of september allowing the Mourvèdres (Vitis vinifera) to provide perfect maturity until mid-october. One must also count on the influence of the sea air (the mediterranean sea is only 2 km as the crows fly). All these parameters provide a true still preserved ecological niche gathering all its terroir expressiveness. In the wine cellar, the grapes processed into Red, Rosé and White express their true nature with attention and respect. Very early (in the seventies) the domaine knew how to work the vines and the grapes naturally. We can honestly say that this domaine is a pioneer in what we call today Natural Wines.
