François Dumas set up his own business in 2010 when returning to Véranne (42) where he was born, south of Condrieu, in Pilat. Before that he followed a course of studies then worked alongside many wine producers, including some prestigious ones…. Trapet (Gevrey – Bourgogne), Cuilleron or Jean-Louis Chave (Hermitage). François Dumas improved the practical aspects of the job and became conscious of the wines he wanted to produce.--- Young winegrower by his installation, François quickly became aware that the quality of a wine implies some very hard work in the vines. He is lucky to own a few ares of vines, to be a land tenant on others and at the same time be planting a few vine plants by “massale sélection” (mass selection) with the help of the leading nursery of the moment with Lilian Berillon. To this day, he cultivates almost 2 ha with ongoing organic certification (bio). Little land, working alone and seems to want to remain as it is for now. He likes saying “delegating is not his cup of tea”. Small production, a little wine bottling and at least 4 cuvées of “Vin de Pays” or “Vin de France” since 2011 on Gamay and Syrah. Then Saint-Joseph and Condrieu since 2013.--- We were definitely seduced by his wines : finesse, freshness and length were there. The Saint-Joseph and the Condrieu are magical ! Long life to Domaine François Dumas that we will definitely follow up for the skill of our friendly wine grower !
