After working in a few South African vineyards and gained experience by Gérard Gauby side, Tom Lubbe definitely settled down in Calce in Roussillon and set up the Matassa Domaine (named after a nearby river) in 2001. Beautiful but small plots of old vines run according to biodynamics methods. Fifteen hectares to pamper and to follow in total freedom. Tom Lubbe style sharpens year after year on these magnificent terroirs standing as high as 600 meters.
Whites and reds are precise and tend towards intensity, freshness, profoundness, making those natural wines much sought after today. Definitely recognised work coming to formalise and enhance the actual landscape of the Agly valley and its hidden wonders ! And Matassa is no doubt one of them. https://www.matassawine.fr/
