We have known Pierre Nicolas Massotte ever since the 2003 vintage when he was still working on his father’s vineyard. We have seen his work develop towards more natural and digestibility. A long progress for this young wine grower who shows great enthusiasm, passion and freedom in his winemaking process. Pierre Nicolas took over 7 hectares out of the 40 hectares of the family vineyard and he has been running them since 2004 in his own more respectful, natural and a little ...“crazy way”! The sun is very strong on this Roussillon plain enclave in the Aspres mountain range towards Rivesaltes and wines often remain too powerful. Thank to a natural wine process with no input Pierre Nicolas has brought them freshness, minerality and originality. He is now distinguished with “ECOVERT” Label (organic wine).
Often classified as “Vin de France”, the vintages provide delicious juicy wine with beautiful complexity. Productivity of the vines over 6o years old is low (14 hl/ha). As almost no sulphur is used on his overall production, his wines will settle down and mature in the appropriate conditions for natural wine.
