Savoy - Bugey

Savoy wines come from grape varieties suited to continental and mountainous climate. The region is the wettest France and sunshine is low, the vineyards are on slopes of scree and moraines. known for their low quality, things are changing here too. The maturity is needed to offer more wines rich in fruit while maintaining mineral and refreshing identity.

Appellations 3 to 23 varieties mainly extend on the Savoy, Haute Savoie, just Ain and Isère.
The white majority, Jacquère, Bergeron, Dogfish, Gringet and Chasselas and Gamay for the red ones, as well as Mondeuse or Pinot noir are light, fruity. But sometimes marked by the mineral soils due to granitiques. On Also included roses, sparkling wines.

Bugey is a small area east of Lyon in mountainous area in the same climate for Savoy wines including the most famous wines : the Cerdon, sparkling rosé, the Montagnieu and Belley.
