In the olden days situated on the Vienne to Roma roman way, Arbin is a land of wine. Proof is the Château of Mérande (or Domaine Genoux) that spreads over 12ha including 7ha dedicated to typical local wine variety the “Mondeuse” that expresses all the richness of “Cru Arbin”. The remain is planted with Roussanne, Altesse, Gamay and Jacquère. Settled for generations in the heart of the “Combe of Savoy”, the Genoux family runs these delicate terroirs with strong working power, courage and with environment respect principles. --- Caring to perpetuate the vineyard Yann Pernuit joined André and Daniel Genoux in the venture after years of experience in various vineyards. His youth and ideals came as an asset to contribute to the philosophy of the “domaine”. «A great wine can only be natural» is their headline when approving bio-biodynamic viticulture lead with Ecocert certification. The vine here is treated like a living being in connection with the cosmos. Vine working is done in a way to preserve natural surrounding environment and save the biodiversity in the heart of the vines. Soil work is done without weedkiller or other pesticides to let the terroir express itself with its purest personality. --- All these works are found to be colossal considering the different levels on the hillsides where the vines took roots. All this hard work is rewarded by the wines expressing the identity of these great terroirs. Major sorting out is done in the winery during harvest to get perfectly ripe grapes. Little interventionism during winemaking processes with indigenous yeasts and no in to keep each terroir its characteristics.
