Bernard Plageolles has a passion for ampelography ie the branch of botany that deals with grapevines. The man prides himself on his 23-hectare domain of Gaillac vineyard planted with forgotten or lost grape varieties due to decades of profit-driven agriculture. He even went so far as to set up a programme of preservation of indigenous varieties like Braucol, Prunelard, Mauzac Vert, Ondenc etc… So tasting such wines is a rare experience all the more so that this domain makes wines that have been forgotten by local winegrowers themselves. --- And, the icing on the cake, everything is done according to biodynamic principles ! There ‘s quite a wide range of wines: matured under a layer of yeasts, sparkling with no dasage… or made according to the “Cousinié” method. The vines are pruned according to the old Gobelet technique. Just like in old times the 19-hectare vineyard – 16 in white vaerietals and 3 in red- are never sprayed with any chemicals nor any other imputs.
