Our opinion on this winery

Fabien-the only child- studied oenology for a few years then came back to the family domain in 2006 with the intention of better understanding and improving things. A few years back he had fallen for the wines of Eric Pfifferling of Domaine l’Anglore and in particular the Tavel wines. That really was the time he discovered natural wines. Naturally he started to work along these lines which was not too much trouble as indeed the vines had never been massively sprayed by the previous generations and were even already biodynamically-certified. The whole thing being proudly watched by the father ! ---The 20-hectare domain is split into several places all around the village, never too far from the family home. The soils are a patchwork of red clay, a few patches of limestone or some stony plots. The cuvées are named after the parcels’names like ‘Escures, Acacia…”. And the wine the man is so proud of “La Pièce” made from very old cherished vines planted in such impressive setting ! Hard to understand why other local winegrowers continue to churn out well…what to call them.. not that good wines! Poor Julien who would so much love the appellation to regain its prestige. For him, the next step is to rebuild the stocks due to 2 complicated vintages- 2012 and 2013- and also to reduce the size of the vineyard to facilitate work and bring down production costs.
